What cookies are and why we use them
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep on your computer, tablet or phone. The next time you load a page, your browser sends that file back, which lets us recognise the device, keep you signed in and remember what you did last time.
We also use technologies that work in much the same way, including local storage in your browser and small image files placed in pages and e-mails. Where this policy says cookies, it covers all of them.
We use cookies for a limited set of purposes:
- Signing you in to your account and keeping that session active while you move between pages.
- Protecting the site and your account against fraud, automated access and other misuse.
- Remembering choices you have made, such as your language, display and sound settings.
- Understanding how pages and games are used so that we can fix faults and improve performance.
- Measuring how people find us and, where you have agreed to it, showing you relevant adverts.
Cookies that are needed to deliver the site and keep it secure are set as soon as you arrive, because the site cannot function without them. Everything else is set only after you agree in our cookie notice, and you are free to change that decision whenever you like.
The types of cookies we use
We group cookies into four types. The cookie notice on the site uses the same groups, so you can see what you are agreeing to before you save your choice.
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the site working. They let you sign in, hold your session together as you move from the lobby to the cashier, balance traffic across our servers and help us spot automated or fraudulent access. They also record the choices you make in the cookie notice itself. Because the site cannot be delivered without them, they do not need your consent and cannot be switched off in our notice.
Performance and analytics cookies
These tell us how the site is used: which pages are opened, how long they take to load, where errors occur, and at what point people leave a journey such as registration or a deposit. The reporting we see is aggregated, so it describes groups of visitors rather than naming you. We use it to fix faults and make pages quicker and easier to use.
Functionality cookies
These remember preferences so you do not have to set them again: your language, your display and sound settings, games you have opened recently, and whether you have already dismissed a message. If you turn them off, the site still works, but it will forget these choices each time you visit.
Marketing cookies
These record how you arrived at the site and which campaign or partner page you came through, so that referrals are credited correctly. With your consent, they may also be used to show you advertising on other sites and to limit how often you see the same advert. We do not use them to target anyone who has self-excluded or who has asked us to stop sending promotional material.
| Type | Main purpose | Needs your consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Sign-in, security and site delivery | No |
| Performance and analytics | Fault finding and page performance | Yes |
| Functionality | Remembering your preferences | Yes |
| Marketing | Campaign tracking and advertising | Yes |
How to manage cookies
In the cookie notice on our site
When you first arrive you are asked which groups of cookies you accept. You can accept all of them, keep only the strictly necessary ones, or choose group by group. The same panel can be opened again at any time from the cookie settings control in the site footer, and your change applies from the moment you save it.
In your browser
Your browser gives you broader control over every site you visit. The wording differs between browsers, but the steps are similar:
- Open the settings or preferences menu in your browser.
- Find the section covering privacy, security or stored site data.
- Choose whether to accept, block or delete cookies, and whether to clear them each time you close the browser.
- Save the change, then reload our pages so that the new setting takes effect.
Most browsers also offer a private mode that clears cookies when you close the window, and phones and tablets have device settings that limit advertising identifiers. Deleting cookies removes the record of your consent, so the cookie notice will appear again on your next visit.
What happens if you block cookies
You are free to refuse cookies, but blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop parts of the site from working. In practice you may find that:
- You cannot sign in, or you are signed out as soon as you open another page.
- Payments in the cashier fail to complete or cannot be confirmed.
- Games fail to load, or do not keep your settings between rounds.
- Your preferences and dismissed messages are forgotten on every visit.
- Security checks treat your device as unrecognised and ask you to verify yourself more often.
Cookies, your account and safer gambling
Our site is for adults aged 18 or over. We hold a gaming licence and verify the identity and age of every account we open, and some strictly necessary cookies support those checks by linking your session to the device you are using.
Cookies also help the safer gambling tools in your account work smoothly, so that deposit limits, session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion take effect the moment you set them. The settings themselves are stored with your account rather than in a cookie, and can be seen and changed in the safer gambling section of your account at any time.
Free, confidential support is available from GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline. You can also block yourself from licensed gambling sites in Great Britain through GamStop.
Changes to this policy and how to reach us
We update this policy when the cookies on our site change or when we are required to explain them differently. The version published here is always the current one, and material changes are flagged in the cookie notice so that you can check your choices.
If you have a question about a particular cookie, want to know how one of the groups is used, or would like help changing your settings, write to us at support@casinorichprize.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Requests about the personal data we hold, including how long information collected through cookies is kept, are handled under our Privacy Policy and can be sent to the same address.
