Our commitment to safer gambling

Gambling should stay what it is meant to be: entertainment with a cost attached. Our games are built around chance, the house holds a mathematical edge on every one of them, and over time most players spend more than they win. Playing with that in mind is the clearest protection there is.

Before you deposit, decide what you are willing to spend and treat it the way you treat the price of an evening out. Money set aside for rent, bills, food or debts has no place in a casino account, and gambling is not a way to earn an income or to win back what has already been lost.

On our side, we commit to the following:

  • Accounts are for adults only. You must be 18 or over to register, deposit or play.
  • We hold a gaming licence for the services offered on this site and verify the identity and age of every account holder.
  • Every tool described on this page is free and available from the moment you register.
  • A request to limit, pause or close an account is acted on promptly, and any setting that reduces your exposure takes effect straight away.
  • Our teams are trained to look for signs of harm and will contact you if your pattern of play suggests you are no longer in control.
  • You can switch marketing messages off at any time, and we do not send marketing to anyone who has self-excluded.

The safer gambling tools in your account

The tools below sit in the safer gambling area of your account and can also be opened from the cashier. They are free, you do not need to give a reason for using one, and setting a limit has no effect on your balance or on a withdrawal already in progress.

ToolWhat it doesHow it is changed
Deposit limitCaps what you can pay in over a day, a week or a month.A lower limit applies at once; a higher one only after the cooling-off period shown in your account.
Loss limitCaps the net amount you can lose over the period you choose, counting stakes against returns. As with deposit limits: down immediately, up after a confirmation step.
Session limitEnds your session once the length of time you have chosen is up.Set, changed or removed in your account settings.
Reality checkShows a message at the interval you pick, with time played and your net position, so you can carry on or stop.Interval chosen when you switch it on.
Time-outLocks the account for a short break, from one day up to the longest period the tool offers.Cannot be lifted early once confirmed.
Self-exclusionStops play for a longer fixed period and keeps the account shut until it ends.Cannot be lifted early; a minimum period applies, as set out in the tool.

How to switch a tool on

  1. Sign in and open the safer gambling section of your account, or select the limits option in the cashier.
  2. Choose the tool you need and the period it should cover.
  3. Enter the amount or interval and confirm. The screen tells you when the setting starts to apply.
  4. If you cannot complete the step yourself, send the details to us by live chat or e-mail and we will apply it for you.

Taking a break or stopping altogether

A time-out suits a short reset: the account is locked, you cannot deposit or play, and it reopens on its own when the period ends. Self-exclusion is the stronger option and is meant for a longer stop. During either, you will not be able to reopen the account early by asking us, by using a new e-mail address or by registering again. Any remaining balance is returned to the payment method you used, once the usual verification checks are complete.

Signs that gambling may be causing harm

Problem gambling develops gradually, and it is easier to spot from the outside than from the inside. Go through this checklist honestly:

  • You play for longer or spend more than you planned to.
  • You chase losses, raising stakes to win money back.
  • You borrow money, sell belongings or use funds meant for bills in order to gamble.
  • You gamble to escape stress, boredom or low mood.
  • You hide how much you gamble from your partner, family or friends.
  • Work, study, sleep or relationships are suffering.
  • You feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down.
  • You have stopped before and gone back to it.

One of these is a reason to set a limit. Several of them, or any of the last three, is a reason to take a break and speak to one of the organisations below. You can also write to responsiblegaming@casinorichprize.co.uk and we will apply a limit, a time-out or a self-exclusion on your behalf.

Where to get free, confidential help

Help in the UK is free and confidential, and the organisations below are not part of our business. You need no diagnosis and no referral to use any of them.

  • GambleAware - a charity that funds and signposts free treatment, advice and information, including self-assessment material for anyone who wants to check their own gambling.
  • GamCare - provides free counselling, group support and practical guidance, both for people who gamble and for those affected by someone else's gambling.
  • GamStop - the free national online self-exclusion scheme: one registration blocks your access to the gambling sites that take part, for a period you choose, and it works alongside the self-exclusion in your account with us.
  • The National Gambling Helpline - free, confidential advice around the clock, open to players and to family members, by telephone or live chat.

Blocking software that stops gambling sites loading on your phone, tablet or computer is also worth setting up, and your bank may offer a block on gambling payments made by card. Our support team can tell you what kind of tool to look for.

Protecting children and others in your household

Our site is for adults. We verify the age and identity of everyone who registers, ask for documents where a check cannot be completed from the details supplied, and keep the account restricted until that is settled.

Access is also a matter of how devices are used at home. If children or vulnerable adults share your computer or phone:

  • Keep your password and payment details to yourself and do not store them in a shared browser.
  • Sign out at the end of a session rather than leaving the account open.
  • Use the parental controls built into your device or operating system, or filtering software that blocks gambling sites and other age-restricted content.
  • Keep cards and e-wallet details out of reach of anyone under 18 and check your statements for payments you did not make.
